Disclaimer
Let me start with one point: I am a Japan-lover.
I have been for as long as I can remember and will remain so for the foreseeable future.
I don’t hate Japan, I don’t hate Japanese culture, I don’t hate Japanese people. In fact, there isn’t a single point to Japan or my life here that I can honestly say I hate.
I love this country and everything about it.
And it’s for this reason that things get to me from time to time~
Now, this blog isn’t for everyone. And I knew that when I sat down to write it. And if its not for you, my advice is plain and simple: Don’t read it. In fact, just close it! Nobody is making you stay~
Here’s a simple way to figure out if this page is for you:
This page might be for you if:
You laugh when you read it.
You can relate to even one of the posts.
You have had any negative experience in Japan but can look back on it with fondness.
You accept that no matter where you live there will be both good and bad, and you can balance both to some degree.
This page might not be for you/you may be mis-reading this page if:
You don’t like Japan or have strong negative opinions/feelings against it.
You think that it is attacking Japan or Japanese people (its really more of a gentle poke~)
You feel that it is “whiny” or just full of complaints.
You find this page offensive in any way (cuz it might be!!)
You don’t like it. (now that one’s pretty simple isn’t it!)
Simply put, this page is here as an entertainment tool, and to give people a place to share and relate to experiences should they choose to do so.
This page is made for Japan-lovers, Japan-travelers, Japan-visitors, and Japan-lifers.
Japan is an amazing country. And I have always believed that you will get out of life exactly what you put into it. And in this sense, Japan is no different. Japan can be a paradise for those who are willing to work hard, keep an open mind, accept that there are things in life that you will never be able to change, and laugh at what goes on around you.
I once heard Japan compared to the mysterious forest that Yoda sends Luke into (If you don’t know Star Wars, you might not get this one…). When Luke asks Yoda what is in the forest, Yoda replies, “only what you take with you“.
Unfortunately I have seen one too many people let living in Japan get to them. They become fixed on the negative, and start to filter out all of the beauty and wonder around them. Everyone faces difficult situations from time to time. Some people more than others. In fact some people, almost seem to search out these situations (I’ll admit… I’m one of them haha ^_-).
So in summary,
S*** happens.
I search s*** out.
I write about s***.
Whether or not you read, is up to you.
This page is here to entertain, share, and connect.
Welcome to The Japan Rants
